Welcome to Medieval Hebrew Poetry: a project.

This project was born from a strong desire to see Jewish literary contributions to the Medieval era made accessible to a wider audience by digitally exhibiting them with translations and explanatory notes.

This project is sponsored by the Rossell Hope Robbins Library, the non-circulating medieval studies library at the University of Rochester. The Robbins Library hosts a number of online literary collections and publications from the Middle Ages, including The Camelot Project and the TEAMS Middle English Text Series

Allow this project to be a testament to the authors, whose dignity and talent were tragically undermined by the societies they lived in. Each strophe emanates their passion, their despair, and their hope.

"Put a curse on my enemy, for all deceive their brothers, When will You say to the house of Jacob, 'Come let us walk in the light.'
Mighty are you and full of light, the darkness You will turn to light."
